So, it’s kind of crazy living by myself now (okay, I’ve got friends around, but they’re just as busy as I am). It’s all on me, which isn’t exactly new since I’ve been doing everything forever, but actually being alone is going to put that to the test in a whole new way.
I even moved the whole house by myself. When the mover I found online (he was Ukrainian and super lovely) showed up, he took one look at me and said, “Is it just you?” I think he felt bad for me because he insisted I move only the light things while he handled the heavy ones. Absolute gem of a human. But after that, it was all me—days of unpacking and trying to make sense of the chaos. I don’t think I can look at another box, let alone crush one. It’s so exhausting.
It took me 1 hour and 45 minutes to build a side table that probably takes most people 20 minutes, and I had to figure out how to work an oven with faded labels. Honestly, small wins like these feel like monumental achievements right now.
I’ve also made friends with my landlord, who’s super kind and honestly seems to find me endearing. He’s definitely gay, which makes me feel even safer, but don’t worry—I’m still vigilant. My radar is finely tuned, thanks to life.
I caved and got one of those SAD lamps because the weather in Europe is absolutely miserable, and I refuse to let it drag me down. My mental health’s been a bit shaky after being uprooted again, so I’m really hoping I can keep it together. I’ve got university to focus on, and I need to do well.
There’s still so much to sort—like, I need a proper duvet, lol—but this whole experience feels so adult. It’s exciting and absolutely petrifying at the same time. I’m exhausted, but I’m also proud. Slowly, I’m finding little joys: figuring things out, setting up my space, or just sitting quietly and realising, “This is mine.”
